About Defakto
Defakto is building the first complete Non-Human Identity (NHI) and Access Management platform. Non-human identities (services, machines, CI/CD pipelines, and now AI agents) already outnumber human ones by an order of magnitude, and almost all of them authenticate with static credentials and overprivileged service accounts that nobody discovers, rotates, or governs. That is the problem we exist to solve: give every non-human actor a real, dynamic, cryptographically verifiable identity instead of a shared secret.
We raised a $30.75M Series B in late 2025 (led by XYZ Venture Capital, with The General Partnership, Bloomberg Beta, WndrCo, and J.P. Morgan), bringing total funding to roughly $50M. As enterprises race into the agentic era, every new AI agent is one more non-human identity that needs to be issued, scoped, and audited, which is exactly why NHI has become a board-level security problem and why we exist to solve it.
The Role
This is a technical PM role with real product ownership, not a delivery coordinator or a marketer with a PM title. You’ll work directly with engineering to shape what we build, own the product surface for key initiatives, and engage deeply with enterprise customers to translate their security problems into product decisions.
You’ll be embedded with the team, writing specs, driving roadmap decisions, and getting into the technical weeds on identity, auth/authz, and cloud security. You’ll also be the person who can credibly represent the product externally — in customer calls, at conferences, and in technical conversations with CISOs and security architects.
What You’ll Do
- Own product areas end-to-end — write specs, define requirements, drive decisions with engineering, and ship
- Engage directly with enterprise customers — run technical discovery, understand security team workflows, translate pain into product direction
- Navigate Fortune 500 org dynamics — work with senior stakeholders, security teams, and complex buying structures
- Support sales and technical evaluation — join customer calls, help close deals, and be the technical voice of the product
- Build thought leadership — publish, speak at conferences, and help define how the industry thinks about identity security
- Own documentation and positioning — write the materials that help customers and the team understand what we’re building and why
What We’re Looking For
- Engineering or solutions architecture background — you’ve built things or been deep in technical systems
- Technical fluency in identity, auth/authz, cloud security or adjacent spaces
- Experience working directly with enterprise customers — you’ve done technical discovery, run evaluations, and influenced product direction from the field
- Ability to write clear, precise specs and PRDs — engineering should be able to build from your docs without hand-holding
- Comfort operating in ambiguity at an early-stage company
Nice to Have
- Background as a practitioner (SWE, SRE, solutions engineer) who moved into PM or BD
- Experience at a security or cloud infrastructure company
- Conference speaking or published technical content
